Citizen’s Brief in Opposition to Forced Dues

SUMMARY OF ARGUMENT

I.      The First Amendment Right to Freedom of Association is a cornerstone of our Republic, and Freedom of Association includes the freedom to refrain from association.

II.      Requiring employees to pay dues or fees to union bosses violates this freedom.

III.      Forced fees also violate the right to free speech because they require employees to subsidize union speech they may oppose.
